Involuntarily stolen and abandoned specimens inevitably characterise the image of a city. Their presence on streets and pavements makes them part of the public realm. Apart from their neglect, their alternative use points to another fact: they extend their use for homeless residents of the city to become means of transport for belongings.
Interestingly, an actually private object is recoded here to become a collective object that is used by various groups in the urban community. As an everyday object, the shopping trolley finds itself in a tense relationship between aid and disruptive element.
